Sustainer Fin Airfoil

In order to give the sustainer fins a true airfoil shape. The flywood core has been covered in "Blue Foam". This foam was then hot wired into shape. After the fins have been attached to the 7.5" inside main tube, they will be covered in two layers of 6.0oz fiberglass.
Here's a top view of the fins. In order to give a somewhat sharper edge a 1/16" strip of aircraft birch was inserted between the two foam pieces.
Looking from the root edge of the fin, you can see the airfoil shape of the sustainer fins.
