Overview

The onboard electronic packages will provide the following functions:

• Fire the booster primary and backup deployment ejection charges
• Fire the sustainer primary and backup igniters
• Fire the sustainer primary and backup deployment ejection charges
• Provide an ABORT mechanism for preventing sustainer ignition and deploying the main sustainer chute
• Record maximum altitude
• Provide redundant systems to ensure flight safety

Booster Stage

Motor Ignition

• Fired from Launch Control Panel

Ejection

• Primary ejection charge fired by altimeter channel #1 (Electronics Unit #1)
• Backup ejection charge fired by altimeter channel #2 (Electronics Unit #1)

Sustainer Stage

Motor Ignition

• Main Staging Timer (Electronics Unit #2) Fires the primary sustainer igniter at booster burnout
• Backup Staging Timer (Electronics Unit #3) Fires the backup sustainer igniter at booster burnout
• Outboard Ignition: (Electronics Unit #7) To Be Determined

Ejection

• Drogue deployed at apogee by Altimeter #1 (Electronics Unit #4)
• Backup drogue deployed at apogee by Altimeter #2 (Electronics Unit #5)
• Primary Main deployed at 1500 feet by Altimeter #1 (Electronics Unit #4)
• Backup Main deployed at 1200 feet by Altimeter #2 (Electronics Unit #5)
• R/C switch deploys drogue and main chutes in the event of an emergency (Electronics Unit #6)
